Kenneth Branagh Gives His Thoughts on Directing "Thor"
In an interview with MTV, actor and director Kenneth Branagh gave his thoughts on Thor, since Branagh is set to direct the upcoming Marvel Studios' picture, due out in 2010. Thor will adapt the adventures of the God of Thunder from the pages of the Marvel comics and books originally created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
Branagh himself is no stranger to directing adaptations, but the films he's directed were based on literature of a different sort: William Shakespeare's Hamlet, Henry V, and Much Ado About Nothing.
Branagh is excited by the opportunity "to work on a story about one of the immortals, Gods, extraordinary beings, inter-dimensional creatures. There's science fiction and science fact and fantasy all woven into one. It's based on Norse legends which Marvel sort of raided in a brilliant way."
Thor is set for a July 16 release date in 2010. Marvel Studios' other feature set for 2010 is Iron Man 2, the sequel to this summer's smash hit, due out on May 7.
