Kenny Chesney Denies Flirting with Jessica Simpson

Kenny Chesney said he would not flirt with a buddy's girlfriend.

Kenny Chesney denied reports from Star magazine that he was flirting with Jessica Simpson in front of then-boyfriend Tony Romo at a Fourth of July barbeque.

"Tony's a friend, and I wouldn't flirt with a buddy's girlfriend," he told People.

Simpson and Romo broke up July 9, the day before Simpson's 29th birthday.

Sean Payton, coach of the New Orleans Saints, hosted the barbeque. Chesney went on to say that he talked to a lot of guests at the party, including Simpson, and that if he wasn't famous no one would even care about his encounter with her.

A source told Star magazine that Simpson was giving Chesney "all her attention, and they seemed very intimate."

Chesney said he felt sorry that a couple couldn't go to a party without rumors spreading and called Romo and Simpson "really nice people."
