Kevin Bacon to headline pilot for FOX

By Robert Kirchgassner,

Actor Kevin Bacon has been cast as the lead in an upcoming drama for Fox.

The show, which has yet to be titled, was created by Kevin Williamson, who is known as the writer of Wes Craven’s Scream(1996).

Williamson is also the frontrunner of the current series The Vampire Diaries and The Secret Circle.

The pilot of the new series will focus on a serial killer who attempts to create a cult of killers through technological means. Bacon will play an FBI agent who discovers the plot.

The actor has committed to 15 episodes, rather than the usual 22, should the pilot lead to a series. This is to accommodate his film schedule.

Bacon began his career on TV with appearances on the soap opera Guiding Light. This segued to an illustrious film career which includes Diner(1982), Footloose(1984), JFK(1991), A Few Good Men(1992), Apollo 13(1995) and Mystic River(2003).

The actor’s most recent TV work includes cameos on the series Will & Grace and Bored to Death and his most recent film appearance was in Crazy, Stupid, Love(2011).

He has been married to actress Kyra Sedgwick, the lead on the series The Closer (where she plays a police detective herself), since 1988. They have two children.
