Kid Rock, Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum Drive CMAs

Kid Rock hosted the CMA's, which were taken over by Underwood and Lady Antebellum

Kid Rock belted out his well-known song “Cowboy,” with country stars Martina McBride, Trace Adkins, Zac Brown, Kellie Pickler and Hank Williams Jr. as backup performers. They turned it into a Kid Rock medley, adding “Bawitdaba” and “Good Ol’ Boys” to the performance. It was the opening act of the CMT Awards.

Last night, the Country Music Television network hosted the Country Music Awards, hosted by Kid Rock, and dominated by Carrie Underwood and Lady Antebellum.

The annual country party of fan-voted awards included performances by Brad Paisley, Toby Keith and Miranda Lambert, to name a few. Blake Sheldon, Miranda Lambert’s fiancée, also announced their wedding to the crowd.

The Buckle trophies were evenly distributed to the genre’s stars throughout the ceremony. Following Kid Rock’s party-starting performance, he made a disclaimer saying if anyone was thinking of pulling any “Kanye West-isms...anyone thinking of grabbing the mic, myself or the Bo-Stevens will personally punch you in the mouth, all right?”

Carrie Underwood took the Buckle trophies for Performance of the Year for “Temporary Home,” and Video of the Year for “Cowboy Casanova.”

Buckles were distributed to Blake Sheldon featuring Trace Adkins for Collaborative Video of the Year for “Hillbilly Bone,” and Brooks and Dunn for Duo Video of the Year for “Indian Summer.”

Lady Antebellum brought the house down at the end of the ceremony with a performance and the group also took home a Buckle trophy for Group of the Year.
