David Carradine, 72, was found dead in a Thailand hotel on Thursday. The actorwho got his start on the 1970s television show, "Kung Fu"was found hanging in the closet of his suite in the luxurious Swissotel Nai Lert Park Hotel in Bangkok, according to MSNBC.
Officer Terrapop Luanseng said the police believe it was a suicide. "I can confirm that we found his body, naked, hanging in the closet," he said.
While they were informed of Carradine's death, they could not give any further details, out of consideration for the actor's family, according to Michael Turner, a spokesman for the U.S. Embassy.
Carradine, who has appeared in over 100 films, in addition to several guest appearances on television shows, was filming the movie "Stretch," according to his manager, Chuck Binder.
Thai newspaper, The Nation, reported that people began to worry about the actor after he failed to show up to a dinner with the cast and crew of the film.
Carradine came from a family of actors. His father and three brothers are actors, as well as his niece, Martha Plimpton, best known for her role as Steph in "The Goonies."
Though Carradine got his start in "Kung Fu," it wasn't until he starred in Quentin Tarantino's "Kill Bill," with Uma Thurman and Michael Madsen, that he became known to younger generations.
"It is shocking to me that he is no longer with us," said Madsen. "
I have so many great memories of David that I wouldn't even know where to begin. He has a very special place in my heart."
