The King of Pop Dead at 50

Michael Jackson has died.

The Los Angeles Times has confirmed that Michael Jackson died shortly after 3 p.m. this afternoon. Jackson, 50, went into cardiac arrest at his home and was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital around 12:30 p.m. He received CPR in the ambulance and was not breathing when he arrived at the hospital according to Fox News.

Jackson was born in 1958 in Indiana. At 11 years old he rose to fame as a member of "The Jackson Five." He soon became the breakout star of the group. Jackson went on to become an icon with his music and distinct clothing. In 1982 Jackson won seven Grammy awards for his album "Thriller."

Jackson is also known for his donations to charity, but not without controversy. "Heal the World Foundation" was started in 1992 where Jackson allowed underprivileged children to come to his Neverland Ranch and even spend the night.

In 1994, Jackson was accused of molesting a 13-year-old boy, but settled the case outside of court for an undisclosed amount. Later on Jackson was arrested for charges of child molestation and in 2005 a trial took place. Jackson was acquitted of all charges.

Jackson leaves behind three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince Michael Jackson II.
