The King of Pop Plays Vegas?
Any big star of a bygone era knows that when the going gets tough, the tough get to Vegas. Pop superstar Michael Jackson is in talks to have a standing engagement at a Las Vegas hotel or casino, MSNBC.com reported. These possible performances would be geared towards paying the $23 million debt on Neverland Ranch.
Investment firm Colony Capital, the company that purchased the loan on the singer's extravagant property, is working with Jackson on his possible stint in Vegas, but emphasizes that it's tentative, as it is only one way he can repay his debt. In addition to going the way of Barry Manilow-he recently has a standing engagement at the Las Vegas Hilton-Jackson has been advised by Colony Capital to kick off a sort of media campaign that would put the nasty child molestation trial behind him.
Colony Capital owns the Las Vegas Hilton and a large portion of the Stations Casino chain. If Jackson were to agree to perform in either the Hilton or one of the Stations casinos, he would be performing 180 days a year.
