King of Pop Remembered at Essence Music Festival
The King of Pop was remembered by all with the help of several music artists at the Essence Music Festival this weekend. According to the Associated Press, the Michael Jackson tribute included video and pictures and a "New Orleans style-tribute," which included musicians playing their trumpets, tubas, and trombones.
"He was the greatest entertainer of all time, bottom line," said Queen Latifah. "There's no one who can compare to him. There's no one who's had over 40 years of music in them from a child on up to being a 50-year-old and about to go on a world tour." Music artists such as Beyonce, Ne-Yo, and John Legend paid tribute to Jackson during their performances. According to USA Today, during Beyonce's performance, she sang a verse to her hit song, "Halo." "Michael I can see your halo . . . I can feel your halo . . . I pray I pray I pray it won't fade away," said Beyonce. According to USA Today, Ne-Yo paid tribute to Jackson by dressing in a Michael Jackson-like style. "I'm gonna do what I can to keep the memory alive," he said.
The Essence Music Festival continues Saturday and Sunday with more Michael Jackson tributes to come.
