Kirstie Alley to Leave Jenny Craig

Alley plans to start her own businness and declined continuing on as the Jenny Craig spokesperson.

According to the Associated Press, Kirstie Alley is leaving Jenny Craig to pursue other business ventures in the weight loss industry and will no longer be the company's spokesperson.

The 57-year-old actress confirmed this report in a statement on People magazine's Web site, Tuesday. She expressed her satisfaction with her time at the Jenny Craig Company.

Alley plans to create her own weight-loss brand to launch next year. She has stated she wants to help people end the up-and-down ride of weight loss.

The star began working with the Jenny Craig diet program in 2005 and was offered to continue appearing in the company's ad campaign this year. Scott Parker, vice president of marketing for Jenny Craig, wished her the best in her future business endeavors.

Alley rose to fame in the TV shows Veronica's Closet and Cheers. The actress recently starred on Showtime's reality show Fat Actress.
