Knight Rider and "Grey's Anatomy" Spin-Off Get Renewed
NBC has renewed the remake of the 1980s series starring David Hasselhoff, "Knight Rider," for a full season though its reviews have been mediocre, according to Reuters.
ABC will also renew the "Grey's Anatomy" spin-off, "Private Practice," starring Kate Walsh. Walsh appeared as a main character on the early seasons of "Grey's Anatomy" but launched the spin-off series for her character, Dr. Addison Montgomery, in 2007. ABC ordered nine episodes of the drama, bringing the series to another full season.
"Private Practice" brought in 8.2 million viewers with its second season premiere on Oct. 1. The figure dropped slightly for the show's most recent episode, which only reeled in 7.4 million viewers.
"Knight Rider" premiered earlier this year with a two-hour movie that served as a backdoor pilot. Ratings have slipped since the movie's premiere, which had an average 12.7 million viewers. The latest episode to air had an average of 6.9 million viewers, which was less than the average 7.3 million viewers the show brought in last month.
"Knight Rider" is based off the original series and follows the son of Hasselhoff's character, played by Justin Bruening. Hasselhoff is scheduled to appear in the series.
