Knight Rider Picked Up for Full Season

This is the first pickup for the network.

Knight Rider was criticized when it was announced as a new Fall 2008 show. But now NBC is getting the last laugh - with mediocre ratings for the remake of the 1980s show that starred David Hasselhoff.

While the ratings are not through the roof, the show has received pretty good reviews from television critics. And quite frankly, NBC does not seem to have many better options, considering that Heroes and The Office seem to be tumbling.

They could put on SNL reruns throughout the week, but hulu.com and nbc.com are benefiting from the additional traffic from those.

Anyways, NBC has ordered 9 more episodes, in addition to the 13 it had previously ordered. Through the first four episodes of the series' run, Knight Rider has attracted an average of 7.4 million viewers and has a 2.5 rating amongst adults 18-49.

Knight Rider is the fourth new show this season to receive a full-season pickup. The others are FOX's Fringe, CBS's The Mentalist and the CW's own remake - 90210.
