Kris Humphries made his NBA debut on Wednesday night, his first game since re-signing with the New Jersey Nets after the lockout. However, the soon-to-be ex-husband of Keeping Up with the Kardashians reality star Kim Kardashian did not receive such an accepting homecoming.
When the forward first took to the court during the Nets’ exhibition game against the New York Knicks, he was booed by the crowd.
In fact, every time he had possession of the ball, he was booed some more, Entertainment Weekly reports.
When he sat on the bench, the Madison Square Garden crowd even taunted him by chanting “We want Humphries! We want Humphries!”
If that doesn’t prove how much his off-the-court life has affected him since meeting Kardashian, a poll taken on Forbes indicates that Humphries is the most disliked NBA player in the game, beating out LeBron James after his controversial NBA-related news that he would be leaving Cleveland for Miami in 2010.
Stephen Master, VP at Nielsen Sports, who was involved in the survey, reasons “He’s been on five magazine covers, all in a negative light,” adding, “It’s all so recent, he’s gotten all this publicity for something other than basketball talent.”
Last year Humphries averaged 10.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game for the Nets.
