LaBeouf Taken into Custody for Drunk Driving Charge
Shia LaBeouf, known for his roles in Transformers and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, which proves once again that the stresses of fame and celebrity can push some individuals over the edge.
According to Reuters and police officials, his arrest took place after an auto accident where he was injured early Sunday. Sgt. Scott Wolf mentioned that LaBeouf collided with another vehicle at 3 a.m. in Hollywood. Wolf said that LaBeouf was hospitalized after "injuring his head, knee and hand."
The Transformers and Indiana Jones star was booked for a misdemeanor DUI and then released.
According to Reuters, Wolf mentioned the cause of the mishap, which took place when the actor turned left in front of the other vehicle, which led to a collision that made his car roll over.
This occurrence marks the second time that LaBeouf has been arrested and then released for his actions. He was taken into custody last November at a Chicago Walgreen Co. store after he ignored requests by a security guard to vacate the premises. However, the charges were later dropped by the store when they asked the case to be dismissed.
LaBeouf's representative could not be reached to provide an explanation for his unusual behavior. It is probably just as well, as incidents such as these fail in helping to maintain his heretofore positive image.
