Lachey Records His Pain on New Single

Will the music industry be caught in their custody battle?

Representatives for former pop star and divorcee Nick Lachey announced the premiere of the singer's latest single, "What's Left of Me," on AOL Music this Friday. The ballad will accompany an exclusive interview with the former 98 Degrees singer, whose 2003 debut solo album "Soul-O" was a disappointment on the charts.

Simpson, who can currently be heard in Pizza Hut national advertising, has not commented on Lachey's musical message, but sources say she, too, is readying a follow-up to her 2003 album "In This Skin," which has so far sold some 2.9 million copies. That album is set for a summer release from Columbia Records.

Details about a forthcoming solo album from Lachey have not yet been released.
