Ladies of 'The View' finally win Daytime Emmy

The View finally wins a Daytime Emmy.

For the past 11 seasons on "The View," the female hosts have gone to the Daytime Emmy award show telecast and gone home empty handed. This past weekend was a different story for the five co-hosts of the ABC morning talk show.

The morning show has gone through a cycle of co-hosts. The current five co-hosts are Sherri Shepherd, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Joy Behar, and Whoopi Goldberg and the show's creator, Barbara Walters.

They were so sure they would not win this year. They decided to not show up. In a surprise turn of events, the five co-hosts won their very first outstanding talk show hosts award.

According to LATimes.com, "Daytime Emmy history certainly backed up their decision to be no-shows. Since Dinah Shore won the first hosting Daytime Emmy in 1974 for her talker, 'Dinah's Place,' no multiple-host nominees have ever prevailed. Indeed, the only time perennial runner-up Regis Philbin won this award was in 2001 when he was in between co-hosts. He could never win with Kathie Lee Gifford and he has yet to repeat with Kelly Ripa by his side."

"The View" just wrapped its 12th season, drawing over 4.2 million viewers a day.
