Lady Gaga as Lady Liberty

Lady Gaga is making headlines again with the latest cover of V magazine. The pop star graces the cover as a sexy lady liberty. Gaga’s ever changing do is sculpted into a crown. Marc Jacobs is featured alongside the singer on the issue, which is out now. The cover mirrors the magazine’s focus on New York figures, on people they say “are making the city their own way.”

V’s editor, Stephen Gan, revealed that he chose the singer because she truly reflects what New York means. Gan says, “She embodies everything V is about, and is also a beacon of the city’s creativity and hope.”

Not everyone agrees with Gan. Recently, Lady Gaga suffered scrutiny after an appearance at a New York Mets game. However, the New York native doesn’t let the negative press affect her loyalty to her hometown.

In July 2010, Gaga told Rolling Stone, “I’ll always have one heel in New York City. I live in Hollywood, but you can’t make me love Hollywood. I’ll never love Hollywood.”
