Lady Gaga's Dangerous Drug Addiction and the Aunt that Saved Her

Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, aka pop star Lady Gaga, has built her very successful career as a performer on, shall we say, outrageous displays. Now, she comes forward in a new biography admitting to locking herself in her room to snort "bags and bags" of cocaine.

"I wanted to be the artists I loved, like Mick Jagger and Andy Warhol," Stefani said on the matter. "And I thought the only way to do it was to live the lifestyle.

The singer said that she would use cocaine to find inspiration for her music. She also confessed to using LSD, amongst other drugs, as she emulated her pop idols.

Stefani also said that at the end of the day, she was saved by the ghost of her dead aunt that lives inside her.

It might sound like something outlandish that Stefani's stage persona, Lady Gaga, would project, but the singer maintains that her late aunt was the only thing that rescued her from a very dangerous path.

"I realized my father's sister Joanne, who'd died at 19, had instilled her spirit in me. She was a painter and a poet - and I had a spiritual vision I had to finish her business."

The star has certainly come a long way. From an unknown who performed a half striptease on stage to get the audience to notice her to a pop star winner of two Grammys this past week, Stefani has turned her life towards incredible success after almost being a drug statistic.

She dedicated her Fame Ball tour to her aunt Joanne last year, saying, "I never met her, but she's been one of the most important figures in my life."
