Lady Gaga's 'Telephone' Video Packed With Pop Culture References

A closer look at Gaga's latest music video.

As die hard fans may already know, Lady Gaga's new music video for Telephone is packed with pop culture references. At first glance, these references can easily be missed. However, after multiple viewings through the constant pressing of "pause" and "replay," the hidden gems of the video can be discovered.

Below is a sampling of some of the pop culture references.

The opening, sexually charged jailhouse scene is inspired by the 1974 flick "Caged Heart," naked flesh and brawling females included.

It's hard not to notice the bright yellow car driven by Beyoncé. The getaway vehicle is inspired by Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill. The mobile is also used by Uma Therman in the martial arts film.

In what may be a surprising reference, Gaga acknowledges country singer Shania Twain. Gaga wears a lepoard skin suit that appears to be inspired by the one wore in Twain's music video for That Don't Impress Me Much.

Throughout the nine minute video are also references to Pulp Fiction, ranging from the diner setting to the overall bloody adventure.
