Lambert Inspires Public School Donations
Adam Lambert, "American Idol" runner-up, raised $229,000 for public schools across the country.
DonorsChoose.org announced the winner of a contest today, launched by Lambert, which pitted online Lambert communities against each other in a battle to see who could raise the most money.
The winners came from a LiveJournal community called ONTD_Al, who raised a total of $82,700.
ONTD_Al community members will receive a special chat session with the singer as a reward.
The contest lasted four-weeks, and over 1,500 fans responded to requests left on the charity's website in efforts to gather donations along with supplies for art-based projects and music.
Donations were tracked by a "Lambert Letterboard". Adam frequently checked the status of his challenge.
"I am unbelievably moved by the generosity and resolve of my fans, who have donated beyond what I could have ever expected to help students around the country," said the "Idol" runner-up.
Adam Lambert's debut album will be released on Nov. 24th
