Lambert Opens Up About Sex
Singer Adam Lambert, fan favorite and second-place winner of the eighth season of "American Idol," will end speculation about his sexual orientation when the next edition of music magazine Rolling Stone hits newsstands. In the issue, Lambert confirms that he is, in fact, gay, reported the New York Daily News.
Lambert said he would be surprised if anybody was shocked by the news, according to Entertainment Weekly. The LA Times reported the singer had been living in Los Angeles as an openly gay man for eight years. He had been seen at clubs kissing men, Lambert told the Times.
The Rolling Stone issue featuring Lambert's outing, which will be released Friday, will also delve into the young star's childhood and his decision to compete on "Idol." Lambert assures readers that the announcement of his orientation does not make him a political icon.
"I'm trying to be a singer, not a civil rights leader," Lambert told Rolling Stone.
According to the Times, Lambert also admitted he had a crush on "Idol" opponent and season winner Kris Allen. The two were housed in the same room during the course of the competition, and remain friends today. Allen said he supported Lambert's lifestyle and wished his former rival the best, reported the Times.
