LA's Staples Center - A Possibility for Jackson Memorial
On Wednesday Jackson's family met with the Los Angeles Police Department and California Highway Patrol about funeral services for Michael Jackson.
According to the Los Angeles Times, a public memorial will be held at Staples Center on Tuesday. The LAPD plans a massive deployment on Tuesday in preparation for a funeral service. The Jackson family has not confirmed any memorial plans however. According to NY Daily News the event will be held at 10 a.m.
The Staples Center is where Jackson rehearsed the day before he died. According to Rolling Stone, a Jackson spokesperson declined to comment on whether the plans for the Staples Center are confirmed. AEG, the company that owns the Staples Center, offered to help the Jackson family with the memorial service.
The city of Los Angeles is strapped for cash; having paid $2 million for the LA Lakers Championship Parade. Also, the Ringling Bros. Circus is set to take over the Staples Center on July 8, a day after the proposed memorial date.
