Another column, and another ton of magazines to go through. Every week they're sending us dozens to look at, and here are some of our latest highlights.
First, we saw 'Worthwhile Magazine,' which is "worth" it (bad pun intended) for anybody who needs a little self-motivation. Warning though, it's not for the lazy at heart. They do these great case studies which will break your heart when you hear the average day of an active person.
'Natural Health Magazine' says "yes" to juice and lists 1,001 reasons that juicers are great. The magazine contains super recipes, and it has influenced the office to the point that there is now a juicer on the counter.
From the other coast we saw the entertainment newspaper/magazine, 'Mesh Magazine' which has a great column, "Confessions of a Restaurant Whore" by Joy Lian Alferness who gives the advise, "Do not, I repeat, Do not order the same things as your dining companion.... There is no reason to have two of the same dish on a table unless you are a party of eight...." We just love that line. For that line alone, we think the column is well worth it. Those two sentences are literary genius, and hysterical.
In addition, we recently saw 'More Magazine,' which seems to be for older women, giving health tips for the "over 40 crowd." However, I was struck by a recent article on heirloom vegetables. Did you know that there are tomatoes that are intentionally green?
'What's On: The Las Vegas Guide' is a must have for anybody planning a trip to the city of sin. Sure it has quite a few ads, but between there is also a good deal of content giving a great overview of what to do in the city. Next time we're going to Vegas, we're definitely picking up a copy.
'Cowboys and Indians' is a great magazine for the "Western style addict"-- our words, not theirs-- and on their cover features Kiefer Sutherland looking rather rustic. Maria in the office found him to look like a "hottie," but her tastes differ from the guys. However, having seen the western scene, it's a great magazine for anybody interested in that sort of thing.
Finally, 'Parade Magazine' has an article on conserving water and Senator Paul Simon's involvement in the upcoming water crisis. Did you know we're facing a bit of a crisis? I should stop those long showers. Well, it gets me nervous, but I guess that's the point of a good article.
Anyway, that's this issue's column, tune in next time as we go through the mail bin again!
