Latest 'Glee' casting features mean girls, not maybe-fired definitely-graduating stars

Glee has been off the air since May, but hardly a week of summer has gone by where some tidbit of the upcoming season hasn't leaked and caused Gleeks to go up in arms.

First, co-creator Ryan Murphy said the fan fave trio of Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Cory Monteith would be kissing the halls of McKinley High goodbye after the third season.

Then Chord Overstreet, who played the blonde, talented and generally liked Sam, was denied a series regular gig, but producers tried to smooth over the slap by offering a guest star billing.

Suddenly, Overstreet was back in before being definitely out, and the trio flirted with the idea of a spin-off before Murphy announced that no, they weren't getting a Big Apple play date, nor were they leaving the show because they were under contract.

After all this, most Gleeks took a step back, rubbed their heads and went, "Huh?" and/or contemplated throwing multiple slushies in Murphy's face.

Luckily, the backstage drama and faulty set communications seem to have eased up, and the latest Glee news is a little more straight-forward.

TV Fanatic reports that Fox's musical mega-hit is looking to add a handful of newbies to the glee club when school resumes in September.

According to TV Line, the roles, which have not been cast, include Real Housewife-esque Sugar, punk rocker Sheila and a new football stud and Mercedes' (Amber Riley) main squeeze, Bubba.

The show is also looking for a star to go head-to-head with Glee villain Jane Lynch's Emmy-winning comedic timing, announcing a search for a geometry teacher who could care less for the arts.

The dramedy returns, with most of the beloved cast intact, September 20.
