Laura Linney Heads Up Showtime's "The C Word"
Laura Linney will star in Showtime's latest project "The C Word" as a suburban wife and mom confronting cancer.
From writer Darlene Hunt comes this half-hour dark comedy. This will be Linney's first time starring in a TV series. In addition to taking on the lead role, Linney will also serve as executive producer.
Showtime president Robert Greenblatt said, "Cancer is not usually the subject of half-hour comedy, but Laura saw what we did in this complex show
She will no doubt make this character both heartbreaking and disarmingly funny, and we're thrilled that she has chosen this show for her foray into series television," reported The Los Angeles Times.
Thus far, Linney has won three Emmys. She has won for lead actress in a movie/mini for her roles in "John Adams" and "Wild Iris." Linney also took home an Emmy for guest actress in a comedy series for her role on "Fraiser."
