Lauren Velez to Appear on "Ugly Betty"
The veteran TV actress may be involved in a deadly plot twist on the ABC show.
Dexter star Lauren Velez will have a multi-episode arc on the ABC comedy, Ugly Betty, later this season, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Velez will play a nurse named Elena. How she will interact with Betty and the rest of the Suarez family is being kept secret, but rumor has it that she is involved in a plot twist which may result in the death of a major character.
Entertainment Weekly reported last week that Daniel Eric Gold was also recently signed for the recurring role of Matt, Betty's new love interest. His character will strongly resemble Betty's former flame, Henry, in several ways: he's smart, socially awkward, cute in an unconventional way and has a secret that could affect Betty.
Velez, best known as Lieutenant Maria Laguerta on Dexter, was a series regular on both Oz and New York Undercover. She has also appeared on CBS's Numb3rs and NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
