Laurie Metcalf to stir up some ‘Strange Brew’

Emmy winning actress Laurie Metcalf is set to star in a new Fox comedy pilot entitled “Strange Brew.”

According to an article on HollywoodReporter.com, “The multicamera project, from Warner Bros. TV and Will & Grace creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnik, revolves around a family that owns a small but successful regional brewery struggles with working and living together.”

The project will be helmed by James Burrows. Burrows is best known for writing, directing and co-creating the enormously popular NBC sitcom Cheers, which aired from 1982 to 1993. He also directed hit shows in the 70s such as The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Laverne & Shirley, The Bob Newhart Show and Taxi in the 80s such as The Hogan Family and Dear John in the 90s such as Frasier, Friends, Wings, Will & Grace, NewsRadio, 3rd Rock from the Sun. Dharma & Greg and Caroline in the City and in the 2000’s such as Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory and Gary Unmarried.

The HollywoodReporter.com article goes on to say that, “Metcalf will play the mother in the pilot.”

Metcalf, who won the Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series Emmy in 1992, 1993 and 1994 for her performance as Jackie Harris on the smash ABC sitcom Roseanne, which aired from 1988 to 1997, recently toplined the CW dramedy series Easy Money.
