Lavigne and Whibley call it quits

After being married for three years and one month, Avril Lavigne and Deryck Whibley are getting divorced. According to TMZ, Lavigne filed for divorce citing "irreconcilable differences."

Us Magazine wrote that Lavigne said that she and Whibley had been friends for over six years. They had met when she was 17, she started dating him at 19, and married Whibley at 21. Lavigne said that the two separated on September 4th.

The singer is not asking Whibley for any spousal support, and also requested that she not have to pay him any money either. According to the Seattle Post Intelligencer, both wrote on their personal websites that the divorce was a mutual decision, and that they hope to remain friendly with one another.
