Cop drama "Law and Order" is getting its own day in New York City, according to New York Mayer Michael Bloomberg, in honor of the show's 20th anniversary.

The show, created by Emmy Award-winning producer Dick Wolf, follows the lives of police officers and lawyers as they solve crime within New York City. Law & Order Day has been declared for Sep. 23rd in honor of the show and the prestige it has brought to the Big Apple.

Actor Anthony Anderson told Contact Music that it was a big event for the cast and crew of the show, "It's big and I'm not sure what it means for us as a holiday, but since we are all police officers on the show we get free doughnuts for the day across the city every September 23rd. No, no. It's just a piece of paper."

The cast and crew celebrated the occasion with a party on Sep. 23rd.
