LeAnn Rimes to have surgery for leg infection
The Associated Press reports that country singer LeAnn Rimes has canceled three concerts this week because she will be having surgery for a leg infection scheduled for Tuesday in Los Angeles. According to a statement from her publicist, Diana Baron, the 23-year-old suffered a 'tear in the tissue' of one of her legs.
"It's a minor surgery, but because of the infection it was urgent that she takes care of it right away," Baron said.
To make time for her surgery and recovery time, Rimes has cancelled her concert on Thursday in Hampton Beach, N.H. and her Friday and Saturday concerts in Niagara Falls. She is expected to play the remaining dates of her "This Woman tour" after her recovery.
In 1996, Rimes won two Grammy awards for best new artist and best female country vocal performance for her song "Blue."
