Matthew Goode, star of recent romantic comedy Leap Year admitted to the UK's Telegraph that his latest movie could be one of the worst of the year. Goode called the film "turgid" and conceded, "I just know that there are a lot of people who will say it is the worst film of 2010." He explained that while he knew the script was unimpressive, the movie, which was shot in Ireland, would provide an easy paycheck while allowing him to stay close to home, his girlfriend, and their 10-month-old daughter during filming.
"That was the main reason I took it - so that I could come home at the weekends," he said. "It wasn't because of the script, trust me. I was told it was going to be like The Quiet Man with a Vaughan Williams soundtrack, but in the end it turned out to have pop music all over it. A bit like Chasing Liberty again. Do I feel I let myself down? No. Was it a bad job? Yes, it was. But, you know, I had a nice time and I got paid."
Luckily for Goode, Leap Year was not his only film in 2010. Goode co-stars in A Single Man, where he plays the lover of Colin Firth's character. Firth is nominated for an Oscar for his performance.
