Associated Press reports Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James wants to change his number from 23 to something else as a tribute to Michael Jordan, who famously wore the number 23 jersey. James is trying to start a petition to get all players currently wearing the number 23 to give it up in honor of the recent basketball hall-of-fame inductee.

According to the New York Times, James is considering switching his number to 6, which he wore at the Olympics. Besides James, a dozen other NBA players currently wear the number 23, though none are anywhere close to the stature of the reigning NBA MVP.
