LeBron James Banner Ripped Down in Cleveland

Signature 'We Are All Witnesses' poster removed after the superstar's departure

Apparently they don’t want to be witnesses anymore.

The Associated Press reports that the gigantic, iconic banner bearing LeBron James’ image performing his signature pregame powder toss and reading “We Are All Witnesses” above beside a Nike insignia has been removed, days after James announced he will leave the Cleveland Cavaliers in favor of the star-studded Miami Heat.

The banner hung across the street from the Quicken Loans arena and was an emblem of the Cavaliers’ success during the years LeBron played for them.

After James’ announcement late last week, angry Cavaliers fans began throwing rocks at the sign, as well as verbally disparaging the star and burning replicas of his Cleveland jersey. Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert also wrote a scathing letter addressing James’ departure, and made a “guarantee” that the Cavaliers would win an NBA title before James does.

Nike spokesman KeJuan Wilkins said Nike had not yet decided what to do with the sign.

Despite widespread animosity toward him throughout the state, LeBron James still plans to attend his charity bikeathon, the fifth annual “King for Kids Bikeathon,” in his native Akron. His publicist, Keith Estabook, confirms that James intends to participate.

James has been joined at the event in the past by NBA stars like new teammate Dwyane Wade and Olympic teammate Chris Paul.
