Leno Thanks Letterman For Making Him a Part of His Super Bowl Ad
Super Bowl commercial enthusiasts have described last weekend’s promo for The Late Show With David Letterman as one of the most memorable advertisements from Super Bowl Sunday. The commercial featured David Letterman sitting on a couch next to daytime television icon Oprah Winfrey and late night competitor Jay Leno, both of whom are from CBS’ rival network, NBC. Leno described his experience making the advertisement alongside his longtime late night rival during Monday night’s episode of The Jay Leno Show.
While addressing his studio audience, Leno expressed his gratitude for the fact that Letterman came up to the idea and provided him with an opportunity to promote his show alongside him. Leno said, “It was great fun. I want to thank Dave for making me a part of his promo. I was glad to promote his show. Dave, thank you very much, I appreciate it.”
Leno went on to elaborate on the experience by saying, “I walk in and I see Dave. He puts his hand out and we shake hands. Whatever happened the last 18 years disappeared. It was great to see my old friend again, it was wonderful.” According to MSNBC.com, the advertising project was kept a secret from staff members for both Letterman and Leno.
