Leno Will Bid His Goodbye to "The Tonight Show"
The Tonight Show's Jay Leno will host his last show after 17 years on May 29. Leno, 59, will launch a new prime-time comedy show in the fall on NBC after comedian Conan O'Brien takes over Leno's celebrated late-night program on June 1, according to ChicagoTribune.com.
James Taylor, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mel Gibson, Wanda Sykes, Billy Crystal, Prince, Sarah McLachlan, Lyle Lovett and Dwight Yoakum are among others who will appear in the final week.
According to ChicagoTribune.com, Leno has planned something "unusual" for his final night on the show.
Leno's move to NBC was somewhat an economic decision to save the struggling network, which has fallen behind and dropped ratings compared to the other four TV networks, according to Reuters. The new show will appear five nights a week at 10 p.m. and will provide comedic relief to the other serious shows that air during the hour, according to Reuters.
May 29 will mark a bittersweet ending for Leno.
