Letterman and Leno Star in Ad Together
Perhaps the biggest surprise during the Super Bowl yesterday was the advertisement for The Late Show, starring David Letterman, Oprah and Jay Leno.
Executive producer for The Late Show, Rob Burnett told Entertainment Weekly that they wanted to top the Super Bowl ad they did with Oprah in 2007 and this was the best way to do that.
“Dave has a simple edict: If it's funny, we do it. When CBS says it needs 10 seconds, it's incumbent upon you to do the funniest bit you can do,” Burnett told Entertainment Weekly.
Burnett says that keeping the advertisement a secret was a difficult process.
“Jay wore a disguise ...a hooded sweatshirt, dark sunglasses and a mustache. Fifteen minutes later, Oprah arrived ... but not in a disguise. We shot it in the balcony of the Ed Sullivan Theater,” Burnett told Entertainment Weekly about getting the stars together undetected to shoot.
