Lil’ Wayne to Undergo Dental Surgery, Sentencing Delayed Until March

Rapper Lil’ Wayne is set to undergo surgery to repair a cracked tooth and as a result, sentencing for his one-year term has been pushed back.

Attorney Stacey Richman, who represents hip-hop artist Lil’ Wayne, informed a judge that her client has been suffering from a cracked tooth during court proceedings on Tuesday. As a result of his need for dental surgery, the judge granted a postponement of his sentence and announced that it has been rescheduled to occur on Tuesday, March 2nd. Prosecutors involved with the case complied with Richman’s request due to their agreement with the fact that dental care would be of more optimal quality with his dentist as opposed to Rikers Island facility dentistry.

Richman clarified to the judge that Lil’ Wayne is scheduled to undergo dental surgery on Friday, March 12th and that he would need between seven and ten days to recuperate. According to MTV.com, Lil’ Wayne was accompanied to today’s sentencing by several members of his entourage, including Baby, Lil’ Twist, Mack Maine, Slim, his road manager, his bodyguard and other representatives from his Cash Money and Young Money record labels.

Wayne arrived at the courtroom at approximately 2 P.M. EST as members of the paparazzi snapped photographs of his entrance. The postponement of Wayne’s sentencing comes as a bit of a surprise since said a temporary goodbye to his online fans in a streaming video and has been working diligently to finish music and music video projects prior to serving jail time.
