Lil' Kim leaves jail early
After spending 10 months in prison for committing perjury, rapper Lil' Kim was released a full two months earlier than her intended sentence for good behavior.
Dressed fashionably in a white dress and sunglasses and carrying a bouquet of white flowers, the rapper stepped into a Rolls Royce and left Philadelphia's Federal Detention Center.
Lil' Kim, whose real name is Kimberly Jones, was jailed for lying in federal court about details in a February 2001 shooting outside a New York radio station.
After her release, Jones will be under house arrest for 30 days. Jones said she is glad to be out.
"Today is a joyous day for me and my family. I am extremely grateful and happy to be home," Kim said in a statement.
"Many special thanks go out to my fans, who were critical in helping me get through these past 10 months. I am looking forward to adjusting back to my normal life and getting back to work," she said.
Jones has been an influential rapper since the mid 1990s, and she won a Grammy award in 2001.
