Rapper Lil Wayne is ready to tell his fans all about his prison experiences. It was announced Thursday that he is writing a book titled Gone Till November that will detail his life in prison. Wayne also expanded his profile beyond the music industry this week by unveiling his own line of skateboard clothing.
The Associated Press reports that Wayne signed a publishing deal with Grand Central Publishing, a division of Hachette Book Group. The publishing company said in a statement that Wayne will write about his eight-months in prison at Rikers Island complex. Wayne had been sentenced to prison for a gun possession charge.
In the announcement, Hachette says that Wayne kept journals in prison, which make up an “internal monologue, detailing his thoughts and feelings, the strange people he met, his plans, his family, his children, his past, present, and future,” according to Media Bistro.
Earlier this week, Wayne also unveiled his skateboard clothing line, according to MTV News. He made a surprise appearance at the 2012 Zumiez 100K event, unveiling the line, which he calls Trukfit. “When a person could spot a fake, they’d be like you got on the truck fit,” he said, trying to explain the name to fans. “So now it’s cool to have on the truckfit, ya dig!” he added.
Billboard adds that Wayne also talked about the line on his Weezy's Sports Corner web show, saying, "It will be the best clothing line ever.” He did promise fans that the products will be set at a “moderate price point.”
Gone Till November is set to hit bookstores this November, close to the second anniversary of his release. The Trukfit line is set to hit New York City stores by the end of this month.
