While everyone believes they know the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the new take on the classic tale about to hit theaters will be completely different. Lily Collins, who plays Snow White, in the new movie Mirror Mirror, explains to fans that her character is different than she is in the classic Snow White tale.

Collins, working aside Julia Roberts who plays the Evil Queen, creates a more modernized Snow White scenario.

“In our story, it’s a little different,” Collins told ETonline. “The dwarves train me physically and emotionally. And she’s modernized – it’s a fun way to play it.”

Collins plays an exiled princess who is aided by seven ‘resourceful rebels’ as they help her protect herself from the queen.

In the trailer, Snow White is a spirited and aggressive character that is capable of sword fighting and making her way through harsh winter conditions.

Snow White’s ability to fight for herself in Mirror Mirror won’t be the only thing that will surprise fans. Julia Roberts plays the wicked and creepy, Evil Queen, rather than a kind loving character as she usually does.

“She’s playing evil in a way that I don’t think people are going to expect.” said Collins, according to Daily Mail Online. “Julia gets to be quite horrible to me. There’s a scene where she pulls my hair and she pulled it so hard that some of it came out!”

While this adaptation of Snow White set out to be a more modernized version of the fairytale, it is not to be confused with Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman, which opens nine weeks after Mirror Mirror. Universal took a less friendly approach to the story, following the Brothers Grimm story closely.

Perez Hilton reported that Mirror Mirror’s tentative release date to be March 30th.
