Lindsay Lohan Accused of Coat-Lifting
A Columbia University student has demanded $10,000 from Lindsay Lohan. According to Masha Markova, the 22-year-old student, LiLo stole her $11,000 blond mink coat as both girls were partying at 1 Oak in New York's infamous meatpacking district.
Markova told the New York Post a couple weeks later that she thought her coat was lost forever, but then she saw Lohan photographed in OK! magazine wearing it. TMZ was told that Lohan's defense was that she has a "number of similar coats," so she could've been mistaken.
"I don't see how it could have been an accident," Markova said. Several paparazzi shots show that Lohan arrived at 1 Oak wearing a black coat, but came out with a bright blond mink one. TMZ supposedly caught one of Lohan's guy friends carrying the mink coat out of the club.
Markova then had her lawyers call Lohan's. NYMag said that the lawyers tried to be discreet, never mentioning the word 'coat', and just telling Markova, "We're going to bring you something." Two days later, Markova got her coat back, but not in full glory. The pelt reeked of cigarettes and booze, with a slight tear in the lining, which Markova said is absolutely "absurd."
The Post reported that Markova is still charging $10,000 for the unauthorized, three-week rental.
