Lindsay Lohan spent the weekend in Hawaii, but controversy still follows her even outside of the contiguous 48 states. She lost a $5,000 Chanel purse, only to have it returned to her, just without the $10,000 in cash she was carrying.
Sources first told TMZ about the incident on Sunday morning, saying that it happened at a house party in Laie, HI. The purse had her passport, ID and the cash.
According to Fox News, what made Lohan particularly nervous was that she would get stuck in Hawaii. Lohan is due back in court in California on Wednesday and could get her probation revoked if she missed the court date.
Later Sunday, sources told TMZ that the purse found its way back to the 25-year-old actress, just without the cash. The sources also detailed Lohan’s frantic actions after she discovered the purse was missing. She had apparently stayed at the party searching for it, even after the police left.
Lohan was in Hawaii with her sister, Ali, according to People. She hit the headlines last week again with her Playboy photoshoot, which was leaked early. The issue was not supposed to come out until next month, but Hugh Hefner tweeted that it “will make the perfect Christmas issue for men in your life--father, son, husband, boyfriend, whoever.”
There is still no word on why Lohan needed to take her passport with her to Hawaii or why she would carry $10,000 to a house party.
