Lindsay Lohan may have lost a silver screen role of Linda Lovelace to Amanda Seyfried, but she’s in talks to play a much more well-known legend now.
The Hollywood Reporter reported the Mean Girls star is in early talks to play the late Elizabeth Taylor for a Lifetime original movie titled Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story.
As is described in the title, the film revolves around Taylor’s relationship with Richard Burton, who she married twice.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Amish Grace producer Larry Thompson is overseeing production of the film, which was announced as part of the network’s 2011-2012 schedule earlier last year and has been in development since May.
The actress hasn’t had many acting gigs since being in and out of court. She starred in Machete in 2010 and was featured in a few episodes of Ugly Betty back in 2008.
Some could argue that Lohan’s life is similar to that of Taylor’s. They both grew up in the spotlight as child stars.
In fact, Lohan’s Hollywood career started when she began modeling at age three and starring in commercials before making it big with Disney’s Parent Trap. But she has yet to amass the eight marriages and millions of dollars of jewelry Taylor acquired during her lifetime. Or the Oscars.
