Lionel Richie Proud to Be a Grandpa

Grammy Award-winning singer and composer Lionel Richie is thrilled with the prospect of being a hands-on grandfather to new granddaughter, Harlow Winter Kate Madden.

Harlow, new baby daughter of Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, is a welcome addition to the Richie clan.

Revealed Lionel in a statement released to People.com, ""While it may take me a moment to adjust to being called granddad, I am extremely happy and proud of Nicole and Joel."

"Harlow Winter Kate Madden, the newest and most beautiful addition to the Richie clan, is a lucky little girl," he added. "She was surrounded by a great deal of love at that hospital as she entered the world. Nicole and Joel are going to be wonderful parents."

Nicole is the adopted daughter of Lionel and his ex-wife Brenda. She also has a half-sister, Sophia.
