Minnesota Vikings v Detroit Lions

The football gods are smiling on the Detroit Lions, at least for today. The Lions defeated the Washington Redskins 19-14 at Ford Field to end a 19-game losing streak dating back to December 23, 2007, reports the Associated Press.

Rookie quarterback Matthew Stafford had his best game yet as a pro, completing 21 of 36 passes for 241 yards and a touchdown to lead the Lions to a long-awaited victory.

On the losing end, Jason Campbell had himself a great game, according to the Seattle Post Intelligencer. Campbell went 27-for-41 for 340 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

The Redskins nearly lost a lot more than just a game, both figuratively and literally, says the Kansas City Star. Defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth left the game with a hip injury in the second quarter, but would return in the second half.
