“Rabitt Hole” has found a distributor in Lionsgate. The movie will be release later this year to have the chance to be considered for the Oscars.
“Rabbit Hole,” which was directed by John Cameron Mitchell, is based on a play by David Lindsay-Abaire and it’s about a couple trying to cope with the death of their son. Aaron Eckhard and Nicole Kidman star.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be working with the distributor that brought us ‘Precious,’ ‘Monster’s Ball’ and ‘Crash,’” the director told indieWIRE. “To have their expertise a bringing small yet commercial family dramas to the marketplace and the fact that it will be a priority project for them is a heaven-sent gift this late in the season.”
The film and Kidman had received great reviews. Moviefone describes the film as “flawless” and says that Kidman’s performance, as a very distressed mother is “Nicole Kidman at her best.”
The Hollywood Reporter’s Kirk Honeycutt writes, “Kidman grabs the central focus of the story as the more distraught of the two. The performance is riveting because she essentially plays the entire film at two levels, the surface everyday life and then what is turning over and over again in her mind.”
