Live from NY it's a boy for Amy Poehler!

Amy Poehler was not on "Saturday night Live" tonight, but given the circumstances I think fans can forgive her.

She was in the hospital most of the day having her baby boy reports Access Hollywood and TMZ.com.

The comedian's son being born during the show's rehearsals meant that he was a tad early as the due date was originally suppose to be Sunday, October 26.

According to reports, the day early delivery was as much a surprise to the writers of "Saturday Night Live" as it must have been to the new mom as they had to scramble to rework tonight's show.

Poehler had been scheduled to do a rehash of the "Bronx Beat" skit with former cast member Maya Rudolph who was returning to the show as Michelle Obama.

This also meant that funny man Seth Meyers was on his own tonight to give the "weekend update."

Husband Will Arnet has given no news as to how the mother and baby are doing yet, but the comedian will no doubt be happy to learn that she was missed from tonight's show.
