Lizzie Grubman-Power Girl

Lizzie Grubman has moved from behind the scences to prison and now television.

How far have we sunk to not only have every network airing several reality television shows, but the cable channels now are joining in the fun.

All of the networks have at least two reality shows during the regular season. A&E has now joined in the fun with "Growing up Gotti." Cable is trying to catch up, but it all started with a little channel called MTV.

MTV was the first to debut a reality television show before it even had a name. "The Real World" debut in 1992 started something without realizing it. Throwing seven strangers into a house and seeing what will happen was an ingenious idea by the shows creators, the late Mary-Ellis Bunim and Jonathan Murray. They didn't want actors to portray real life, they wanted the real life to be portrayed by real people.

That was 14 years ago. Today we have every kind of way to win a million dollars and to get married on television. Who would have thought 14 years ago to have a single parent be thrown on television and marry him off with the consent of his children? Or how about the show where you are on a deserted island and have to survive by backstabbing the people you live with.

Now, the latest in television brainstorming is giving everyone his own television show. "Newlyweds," with Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson is a funny and sweet show. But will it be so endearing if the Newlyweds were Britney Spears and Kevin Federline? I don't really want to watch her smoke all day and run her once amazing career into the ground. If I wanted to watch a show like that, we could just tune into "The Surreal Life."

Now here's a really good idea that could become a hit. Ready? Let's take this blonde girl, who once served a little over a month in prison for injuring 16 people with her SUV. Now, let's follow her and her group of people all over New York City, Los Angeles and Miami to see what happens at those VIP parties.

Do you have a clue who this blonde girl is? It's none other then Lizzie Grubman, 32. After going in reverse in her SUV at a Hamptons nightspot and injuring many people, she was splashed all over the tabloids. She had more spotlight than her clients, who include P. Diddy, Brittney Spears and Russell Simmons.

So let's give her a show. "PoweR Girls" is set to start in the spring and there are already six episodes picked. Of course, seeing what goes on at these parties is fun and interesting. Who doesn't love to see what celebrities really do and how they behave? But is Lizzie Grubman the best candidate for that?

She wants to show people "the hard work and the long hours it takes to run your own business," she said in a statement on Wednesday.

I guess we have to wait until 2005 to see how hard it really is to hang out with a bunch of celebrities and get them publicity. Without a doubt, "PoweR Girls" will be another hit for MTV along with other shows such as "Rich Girls," "The Osbournes" and "Sorority Life."
