LL Cool J has been chosen to host this year’s Grammy Awards.
The two-time Grammy winner will be the first official host in seven years, although he has been in charge of hosting the live Grammy nominations concert since 2008.
Joyful Noise star Queen Latifah was the last host of the Grammys back in 2005. LL Cool J, who turned 44 this week, has expressed his excitement over obtaining the hosting gig.
“I'm thrilled to be part of Music's Biggest Night," he said in a statement, People reports. "I will always have fond memories of my first Grammy Awards and to now be hosting the Grammy show, in the company of so many other incredible artists, is a dream come true."
British singer Adele, who had a record-breaking year with her album 21, leads the pack with the most nominations. She is rumored to be performing at the show following throat surgery, MTV News reports.
If it’s true, it would be her first performance since her surgery in November. Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson, Foo Fighters, Bruno Mars, Nicki Minaj, and Taylor Swift, however, have already been announced as performers.
It’s been said that more presenters and performers will be announced in the weeks leading up to the Grammys.
The 54th Grammy Awards will air February 12 on CBS at 8 p.m.
