Lloyds of London refusing to pay out Michael Jackson's insurance

The insurance company goes to court because the pop star lied on his application

Almost two years after Michael Jackson passed away, the pop star's insurance company Lloyds of London is refusing to pay out the star's outstanding insurance policy. The company says that Jackson lied on his application, so they will be going to court to ask a judge to relieve them of their responsibility.

The 17.5 million dollar policy was backup for Jackson in the event that his This Is It tour didn't do very well. The late celebrity died just days before the tour was set to take off, at the age of 50.

SheKnows Entertainment reports that the insurance company will not be paying the outstanding fees because Jackson lied on his insurance application. He told Lloyds of London that he had not seen a doctor since his 2005 plastic surgery procedure, and he did not say that he was taking any prescription drugs.

Lloyds of London is planning to tell the court that the celebrity never had a necessary medical examination, so covering the policy should not be the case. But, solicitors of Jackson explain that this event is just one in which an insurance policy is trying to avoid paying a legitimate claim.
