Lohan Accepts Plea Bargain On DUI and Cocaine Charges
Lindsay Lohan escaped a long term stint in jail when a plea bargain was met on the seven misdemeanor charges against her, including driving while under the influence and cocaine use and possession. The amount of cocaine in Lohan's possession was under the limit needed to press felony charges.
Lohan was sentenced to one day in jail, 10 days of community service, must complete a drug treatment program, and will be put on probation. Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Danette Meyers stated: "She's getting what everyone else would get." Lohan was not present at the hearing, but admitted in a public statement that she has trouble staying clean. She is currently at a Utah rehab center, but must complete both the drug treatment program and serve her jail time by January 2008.
